~NLT Life Application Bible published by Tyndale~

My New Bible!

A prize I won from Tyndale Publishing.
A few weeks ago I published a blog post about the New Living Translation Bible from Tyndale Publishing. I was one of the first 50 bloggers to post about the NLT version and send a link of my post to Tyndale.

I received a certificate for a free NLT Leatherlike. I needed to take my certificate to my local Christian bookstore (in my case, Lifeway).

SO... yesterday I drove 40 minutes to my nearest Lifeway bookstore to redeem my certificate for my new NLT Life Application Bible... I love the crisp new pages and smooth cover!

I have never studied out of a NLT version Bible before, I grew up using a NIV and NKJV.

AND... I have never used a Bible published by Tyndale. I've always used Thomas Nelson Bibles, not for any particular reason, just because that was the Bible that I liked or was gifted. My favorite Bible to study out of has been The Nelson Study Bible in the NKJV, which I was gifted by my parents for my high school graduation in 1999.

BUT... since I now have a Tyndale published Bible in a new version I've never used, I will be giving my new NLT Life Application Bible a try.

I can't wait to start highlighting and leaving notes in the margins... that is my favorite part of getting a new Bible, but also the hardest part of getting a new Bible... I have notes and highlights in other Bibles that a great and have meaning, do I transfer the old notes and highlights to the new Bible or just start fresh?

Any ideas????

Knowing the Struggle is Over! by K.M. Johnson

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Frantically running towards the open doors of her life, instantly they slammed shut! Boldly marked with a going out of business sign and dead bolted closed. There it was, her life, vanishing immediately before her eyes.

After years of struggling and searching for an understanding of her life, K.M. Johnson found herself stumbling upon a spiritual journey revealing the true meaning of having faith in GOD. Knowing The Struggle Is Over takes the reader through a 3-step process in restoring their faith in GOD. This spiritual journey proves to the Christian believer that having faith in GOD is the only tool needed to overcome any struggle. Knowing The Struggle Is Over! discusses how different circumstances in life may lead to doubt, unbelief, and fear. Ms. Johnson shares her experience on how she learned to stop complaining, let go and let God, and finally acknowledge that GOD is truly in control.

Knowing The Struggle Is Over! incorporates several exercises that keep the reader fully interacted throughout their entire journey. The 3-step process may be shared with others an. Knowing The Struggle Is Over! addresses changes in today's world, the new religions that have transpired, and many of the tragedies we have encountered. The need for revisiting the foundation that Christianity is built, is fulfilled through scripture references, and comments on biblical passages profoundly embedded within each chapter. Knowing the struggle is over entails real-life applications in addition to practical messages. Whatever your situation or circumstance as you conquer this spiritual journey together with the author, you will find your pathway to Knowing The Struggle Is Over!

ONE ON ONE WITH K.M.

K.M., the title of your book is, Knowing The Struggle Is Over! which is very fitting for the current economic situation. I know some people may be wondering, though, what exactly is the struggle?
Honestly, I get that question often. The struggle is not your typical financial situation, or necessarily an addiction that I am speaking of. Though those are two great examples, a struggle is actually any situation, trial or tribulation you may find yourself in. When you find yourself in a struggle, it often means that you have come to a point where you must make a decision and ultimately a choice! I say this with the understanding that everything we do daily is a choice. Whether or not we say or do something is a decision that we as a person have consciously made on our own, regardless if it is wrong or right.
In your book you tell the reader that they can get through any struggle in just three steps! So what are these three steps?
The first step is to Stop Complaining. Now I must admit I did say you can get through your struggle in just three steps, but I never said it would be easy! ;) During this first step we are focusing on renewing our mind, and changing the way we view the things that are happening to us. Oftentimes, we become so caught up in the world around us that we forget about the God within us! The second step is to Let Go and Let God. For myself this was the hardest step. Mainly because I had NO idea what it meant to literally "Let Go and Let God!" Once I had an understanding, it became a natural sequence in restoring my faith in God in regards to my situation. The third step is to Acknowledge Him. Some may see that as easy and obvious, but how often do we "know" what to do and still we "don't" do it! You have to develop a major spirit of praise and give Him ALL of the glory for everything big and small. The noticeable things in our lives we always seem to give Him the glory, but God is truly in the details as well! When we begin to pay attention, and notice how He is moving and working in our lives, that is when we can truly praise Him! And a praise like that becomes a sincere and spirit filled praise! It's not forced, and you won't even have to second guess.
How did God lead you to writing this book?
It's funny and I talk about this at the beginning of my book, but at the beginning I received revelation on my drive home to Gulfport, Ms. from Houston, TX for Christmas. I was on I10 somewhere in Louisiana, and I began praying about my situation. As I finished praying, I remember thinking, "I should write a book." Now what is interesting is that not only did God impress upon me the strong desire to write a book, but He also gave me the title, and contents during that drive! By the time I had made it to my mother's house, I was so excited because I knew I was about to write this book called, "Knowing The Struggle Is Over" and I was going to have three steps that would help you accomplish just that! If I were a writer this wouldn't have sounded so crazy! ;) I never really had a true interest in writing an actual book before then. The only thing I had ever considered prior to that day was writing a children's fiction book, or maybe a few songs/poems. A non-fiction book? Absolutely NOT!
Why did you feel that it was so important to write a book about getting through a struggle?
At first I was excited because I had heard God! I mean, at the time I had been praying and constantly, but I that was the first time I could remember Him telling me to do something outside of my situation. This was around the time I began to understand "how" to be obedient. You see I also realized that what I was going through, and even what I had gone through in the past, was not for me alone, but to share with others. It's great to learn from your own mistakes, but it''s even better when you can learn from someone else's! I also realized that I wasn't in a bad place, I was just looking in the wrong place! In order to truly overcome my situations my faith had to be stronger. The bible tells us that every man is given a measure of faith, and in another scripture it tells us that all we have to have is faith the grain of a mustard seed, but I began to realize that it is easy to forget you even have that faith sometimes! So I had to find a way to get it back, each and every time, it started to look as if it wanted to disappear! Most of the time we stay in a situation because we don't know what choice or decision to make that will get us out!
Please share anything else that would help us understand the writing of your book and how it helps others.
I truly just would like for your readers to know that with everything you go through, God is preparing you for the next level He wants to take you to in life. Sometimes we think that we have a relationship and we know who God is, and we really don't. Just because you spent time with Him last week doesn't mean you can ignore Him this week. To better understand how He works and is working in our lives we have to continuously strive for a closer, more intimate relationship with Him daily! God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, but that doesn't mean to put limits on Him, that just means to trust Him. If He did it before then surely He will do it again! We begin to lose faith because we aren't spending enough time getting to know Him. You get through your situations, by restoring your faith and developing a closer relationship with God. Everyone has an area in their relationship with God where their faith is not at the level it COULD be! If your faith is a 10 on a 1-10 scale, then strive for a 15. All this will do is help you see the other side much more clearer. Then you will find that when you are in your situation you have a confidence, and renewed peace, with an unimaginable strength to make it through!
How can readers get their hands on their own copy of this miraculous book to help them restore their faith in God?
There are several options. My book is available on both my blog: michelejenterprises.blogspot.com, and my author site: kmjohnson3stepstoknowing.com. You can also go to the ordering desk at your favorite local bookstore and have it within a few short days! It is also offered on various online stores. Regardless of how you get your copy, the most important thing is that you get your copy! This is a great way to revive your thinking and restore your faith!

CD Review: Love Broke Through by Jennifer Shaw

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jennifer Shaw was reluctant at first to step through the door God had called her to as a worship leader.
Even through her near death experience, the devastating news that her father had Lou Gehrig's disease
and diagnosis of her son with Sensory Processing Disorder, Jennifer relied on the arms of God to catch her.

Her music is heard by millions on over 300 worship radio stations world-wide. She stands amazed that her song Love Broke Through held the spot of #3 on the national worship radio charts.

You can find more out about Jennifer at her website: www.jennifershawmusic.com.

MY REVIEW
Jennifer Shaw is a new name to me, but her voice and lyrics still ring loud and clear long after I turn off the iPod. I especially love her song Asante Sana, Jesu.
"Asante sana, Jesu" is a song that came to Jennifer during her trip to Africa. "I was leading worship at a church in Nairobi, and they opened the service with the people singing those words which mean, 'Thank you so much, Jesus'."
Love Broke Through is a great CD. With a touch of her opera background on a few songs, I love the worship feel of this CD. Many can be used in church as worship songs.

'Your Great Name' and 'Before You' are such beautiful songs! Great CD!

Must have for every lover of Worship music.

CD Review: The Real Thing by Shannon (with GIVEAWAY!)

the real thing

(One of the FUN songs from her CD!)

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Shannon Perry is a singer, song writer, speaker and wife! (WOW! and I thought I was busy.)

Shannon speaks to thousands of women a year in her If The Shoes Fits conferences. Here's what Shannon has to say why the conferences are important to her:

“Far too many women are buying into lies these days,” she says. “The enemy tells us-- ‘you’re fat, ugly, short, tall, worthless’ and the list goes on-- so that we are stuck, not growing, and live in the same rut for many years of our lives. My prayer is that these events would help women find truth for their lives so that they not only leave the conference changed, but their marriages, children, families, friends, church and world are changed because they are finally set free to live the life they were called, anointed and chosen to live.”
Shannon s also a contributor to one of the largest Christian internet sites, Crosswalk.com, as well as a radio host of the show Grace in High Heels. He highest goal in it all is to turn eyes to Jesus!

Find out more about Shannon, If the Shoe Fits conferences and all her albums and recoreded messages at her website, www.shannonperry.com.

MY REVIEW

Her songs range from so deep, The real Thing, to fun, like Bad Hair Day, but each has such a deep message.

Shannon has a little western twang in her style with such a great and impacting message.

Of this CD, my favorite song would have to The Real Thing. The words were so touching and 'real'!  Each year I pick a new 'life theme song', this is mine for the year!

I want my belief in Christ, walk with Jesus and work for God to be the real thing, a true and genuine love for Him!

Here are a few lines:

I convince everyone around me
how much I love You
I can turn a phrase
of one of those clishays
and make 'em believe it's true

But you know who I am
You know my heart

So take it
so I don't have to fake it
I wanna be the real thing
who loves Ya more than anything
I wanna be so genuine
that when somebody's looking in
my heart
they see
the real thing...
Another great song is You Are Incredible! Beautiful words! Great worship song!

GOD IS INCREDIBLE!

This style music is a bit different from my normal playlist which includes lots of Worship and Christian Rock, but nonetheless it has my it onto my iPod!

Desperate Hope by Candi Pearson-Shelton

Cover Image

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
As her younger brother battled for life in the ICU, musician Candi Pearson-Shelton and her family sat waiting and praying, struggling to hang on to hope. Rick Pearson died anyway, at age 23. But in those tense ICU days and the painful months and years that followed Rick’s death, the family somehow settled on a mission: to seek out the glory of God shining through the sorrow and to reflect that glory, even if it meant seeing their plans come to ruin. In this fiercely honest yet faithful book, Candi shares the “gentle whispers and hard-learned faith lessons” that came to them along their journey, offering a song of praise to One who, in the midst of tragedy, pain, and confusion, revealed not only His glory, but also beauty, unexpected graces, a hope more grounded in faith, and a shifted perspective that changed nothing…but somehow made all the difference.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Candi Pearson-Shelton is a worship leader, songwriter, and independent artist best known for her involvement with the Passion worship movement and the Dove-award-winning Glor

MY REVIEW
What a phenomenal books about hope, tragedy, loss and life!

You cannot read this book without being challenged; whether in your daily walk, in your faith, or in your outlook on life and death.

Candi allows you to walk next her as she counts the bittersweet journey of her brother's fight with cancer. Along with way she shares amazing and truthful insight in God's word and the lessons she learned from this valley.

Have a box of kleenex near, maybe even two!

Candi shares a handful of blog posts and comments written by friends from the website that the family set up to keep family updates.

Well done! A must read!

Such a bittersweet topic,  a dear Christian brother or sister leave this world and dance into the presence of God. Candi shared enough about the situation, thoughts, prayers and feelings to give you insight into their heart and mind, and the lessons they learned, all while keeping her family life discrete.

A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin

Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin: Book Cover
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Never pretty enough to please her gorgeous mother, Allie will do anything to gain her approval--even marry a man she doesn't love. Lt. Walter Novak--fearless in the cockpit but hopeless with women--takes his last furlough at home in California before being shipped overseas. Walt and Allie meet at a wedding and their love of music draws them together, prompting them to begin a correspondence that will change their lives. As letters fly between Walt's muddy bomber base in England and Allie's mansion in an orange grove, their friendship binds them together. But can they untangle the secrets, commitments, and expectations that keep them apart? A Distant Melody is the first book in the WINGS OF GLORY series, which follows the three Novak brothers, B-17 bomber pilots with the US Eighth Air Force stationed in England during World War II.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

"Although I come from a home wallpapered in books, I only briefly envisioned myself as a writer, when my sister and I co-wrote Funny Dancing Fruits and Vegetables complete with crayon illustrations.
Sarah Sundin

Then I discovered science. I loved learning about the intricacies of God's creation, so I studied chemistry in college, and then got my doctorate in pharmacy—not a typical career path for a writer.

In pharmacy school, I met my husband, Dave. We settled in northern California and were blessed by three bright, funny children—Stephen, Anna, and Matthew.

Then on January 6, 2000, I woke from a dream so intriguing I had to write it down. I proceeded to write a really bad 750-page contemporary Christian romance. Burn-it-when-I-die bad. But the Lord used it to call me into writing. I joined a critique group, attended writers' conferences, and joined American Christian Fiction Writers. These all taught me about the craft of writing and the publishing industry, and introduced me to writers, editors, and agents.

I first submitted the manuscript for A Distant Melody in 2003, and over the next five years I accumulated a pile of "good" rejection letters from editors and agents. Finally in 2008, a submission at Mount Hermon Christian Writers' Conference led to my first sale.

Between writing and driving kids to soccer and karate, I work one evening a week as a hospital pharmacist, teach Sunday school to fourth- and fifth-graders, and teach women's Bible studies. I enjoy speaking to women's groups and am available to speak on several topics. To learn more visit www.sarahsundin.com and if you are a history buff, don't miss my great blog!"

MY REVIEW
I love everything about Sarah's debut novel, A Distant Melody. I lost many hours of sleep, I could not put it down. It was so engaging. Oh, and the twists! I found myself thinking, "I didn't see that coming!"

There's love, there's action, there's fighting, there's romance, there's more love and more action!

This novel is dear to my heart because I met my husband, online, way back in 1998. (Before it was socially acceptable.) We exchanged letters for about a year and a half before meeting in person, it was truly love at first sight. We became inseparable and grew to know each other through many dates, disagreements, stroll in the park, worship services next to each other and many late night conversations.

We married a year and nine months later. The rest is history!

I know the power of written words and love can surely blossom through it.

And... if that wasn't enough to intrigue me: What an amazing lesson of truth and God's hand in our life that Sarah so clearly relays in A Distant Melody.

I look forward to losing more sleep when her next book, A Memory Between Us, is released in September. (Okay, maybe not losing sleep over it, but it certainly makes my TBR list!)

I am a new fan! I will read everything that Sarah writes!

POSSIBLE SPOILER: I love that God awakens Allie in the middle of the night to pray for Walt. I believe in the power of prayer and I know that God can truly wake you from sleep with an urgent need to pray for someone. I love this aspect of the book!
