ABOUT THE AUTHOR
ANDY: I was raised in a Christian home and accepted the Lord at an early age, but in my teen years I began to question my faith and drift away from my Christian upbringing. As a college student, I attended New York University in New York City where I lived and worked in the shadow of the World Trade Center. On September 11th, 2001, my life was spared from death, and amidst the destruction that so quickly engulfed the city when terrorists attacked, my relationship with Jesus Christ was renewed and deepened. Today, I serve as an associate pastor at Calvary Chapel Old Bridge in central New Jersey where I oversee the junior high ministry. In 2009 I published my first book, Learn to Study the Bible: Forty Different Step-By-Step Methods to Help You Discover, Apply and Enjoy God's Word. My greatest desire is to equip and inspire God's people to dig into the Scriptures and begin comprehending and applying the richness of His Word into their daily lives.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT
Andy took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to answer of few questions about his new book and why he wrote it.

There are many "How to" books in the Christian market, topics ranging from prayer, parenting, bible study... why write another?
While there are many books on how to study the Bible, most of them only teach one approach to Bible study. I’ve found that there isn’t one perfect Bible study method, but there is excitement in trying many ways to study the Bible. That is why I combined 40 different Bible study methods into one book. I believe this variety of ways to study the Bible will keep people from falling into the rut that routine can sometimes bring. Bible study is meant to be exciting!

Did you always want to be a writer?
No. I never had any intention of writing a book until the Lord gave me the desire to create this resource to help people study the Bible. I do not plan on writing another book because I am a pastor, not a writer. But when God tells you to do something He equips you and enables you…so I did it. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. But thanks to the support of my wife Shannon I was able to complete it within two years.

As a pastor, where do you find time to write?
It was hard. My free time basically became my writing time. This wasn’t a church project so I had to find time to write early in the mornings and late at night.

Who is your biggest cheerleader?
God reminded me every time that I felt like giving up that He had called me to this project – that was clear to me. Practically my wife helped me through encouragement and even writing the handwritten examples for me. It was a team effort and I couldn’t have done it without her support.

Who are some of your favorite authors?
I like Tim Keller, Norman Geisler, Roy Zuck, and mostly reading the Scriptures.

Any more books floating around in your mind?
No. I would prefer to focus on ministry. God would have to make it obvious if He wanted me to write again otherwise I have no plans to do so. I’ll probably fight Him on the idea to be honest – but He always wins.

Tell us a little about yourself. (Anything!)
You can read my bio on www.andydeane.com. One thing most readers don’t know is that God saved my life on 9/11/09 as I ran from both of the Twin Towers as they fell. I was able to assist the police and firefighters all day. You can hear me share that story at my author website listed above. The book’s main website is www.LearnToStudyTheBibe.com and you can read free sample chapters and take a look at endorsements and reviews there as well.

MY REVIEW
I had a chance to look through Learn to Study the Bible and apply many of them to my own personal study time. And as a 17-year-old-Christian (I met the Lord when I was 12, do the math!) I wish that someone would have written a book like this sooner!

I went through one year of intense ministry training (Master's Commission) while I took 9 credit hours of Biblical Studies from Berean University (now Global University) and though I learned about the Bible, I never really learned how to study the Bible. I learned how to write a sermon, many different types actually, but I was not taught how to study the Bible, enjoy it and apply it to my life.

Andy Deane has done an amazing job putting together this book that not only tells you how but shows you how. Each method that he presents includes a personal outline of a study that he did using that method. He shows you step by step how to write a detailed outline of what you are studying and teaches you how to apply that ancient scripture to your life.

I will forever be indebted to Andy for providing this awesome masterpiece to help me in my studies. I will use this book everyday for a very long time, as I practice, learn and memorize the methods he presents. Each one is good for a different scripture type, each one easy to use, each one easy to understand.

It is one thing to read the Bible, it is another to study it, and it is something that as Christians is not an option.

God's Word, The Holy Bible, is his love letter and instructions for us while we are on the earth. If you want to learn how to study the Bible, apply it to your life and enjoy doing it, then don't wait any longer, purchase Learn to Study the Bible through Barnes & Noble or at Amazon.
