The Raindrop by Brian McClure

The Raindrop by Brian D. McClure Virtual Book Tour April 2010

Though the uplifting rhymes and profound messages of acceptance, respect and understanding, author Brian D. McClure educates and entertains children, parents and grandparents in the adventurous journey of The Raindrop. In this story, The Raindrop experiences many emotions as it travels from feelings of uselessness to the discovery of its importance and Interdependence of all things big and small.
The Raindrop like the other seven books in The Brian D. McClure Children’s book series offer universal life lessons that empower and educate the whole family.

Brian D. McClure is the author of a number of popular children’s books. His books share a common theme of the interconnection and oneness of all, and resonate with simple Truths which are common to all of us. Brian believes that in order to end fear and violence in our world, we must all be proactive in helping everyone remember who they are. Brian is also the creator of the Universal Flag. This flag was created to represent our Interconnection and Oneness with All. It is a symbol that trancends differences, and honors the uniqueness and commonality of all.

Read an Excerpt!
I am just a raindrop; I am smaller than small.
What am I doing here? I have no use at all…
“What are you talking about?” asked the Cloud, “You are part of the water system, and you should be proud.”
“No,” said the Raindrop, “I am sure you are wrong. I am good for nothing, and soon I’ll be gone.”
“I know your problem,” the Cloud said in reply. “I can do nothing to help you, I can only stand by. However, before you go, there is something I would like you to know. Without you, there would be no life on earth. I urge you to rethink, the state of your worth!”

Very well-written rhythm schemes make this book very fun to read aloud to kids.

Getting a science lesson on H2O, along with a lesson that you matter in this big world, even when you feel so insignificant is exceptional! Love it!

The artwork is beautiful.

I have one problem with this book; on the very last page, Brian leave a cute little rhythm to the kids. It's a little reminder that they are each a  gift to this world and are loved. That is great! I love that part... the line I could not agree with was this one:

You are One with everything there is!
After checking out Brian's website, I came to find why I had a hard time with this line... it's New Age teaching.

See, I am a born-again Christian. I believe in:

  • God
  • His Holy Word
  • the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
  • God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit- Three in One
  • God hears my prayers

For this reason, I cannot recommend this book.

Though it is a well written, with lessons in science as well as each person has an important purpose in this world, I will not recommend this book because of it's New Age message.

I thank Brian and his publicist for sending me a copy to review.

The Legal Stuff: This book was provided by The Cadence Group and the author.
