Guided, practical action steps round out each reading.

From the Inside Flap
Over the past thirty years we have tried almost every marriage devotional, and to be perfectly honest, we have usually failed at having the discipline to continue. The busyness of life or the feelings of guilt because we missed so many days often caused us to silently ignore what we knew was important. Then we came up with the idea to meet once a week and just talk. This book is an outgrowth of our desire to grow closer as a couple. And now we challenge you and your spouse to do what it takes to connect spiritually and emotionally. Start small and invest thirty minutes a week together, being inspired and communicating with the help of these devotionals. If you miss a week, don't quit--just pick up where you left off. This is not about a legalistic time. It's about making practical spiritual growth and connection a priority. Take the challenge! --Jim and Cathy Burns

My Review
My husband and I are as busy as the next couple. He works a varying schedule as an Assistant Manager in a large retail chain and plays the drums for our local community church; while I homeschool three of our five children and chase the other two around the house, keep up with my book review blog and attempt to keep a semi-tidy house. Juggling work, school, family and church is a lot! So once we try adding a daily or even an every-other-day devotional time together is just plain I-N-S-A-N-E!

Closer: Devotions to Draw Couple Together has been great for a weekly devotion time together. We set aside about thirty to forty minutes a week to read the short devotion together and then talk by answering the few questions at the end of each devotion. The questions are deep enough to make you think, but simple enough for most couples that a thirty to forty minute time frame is perfect.

If you are married, whether newlywed or in a seasoned marriage and you want to draw closer to your spouse I highly recommend Closer.

My hubby and I have a great marriage, though it was not always that way. The one thing we often agree on is that we need to spend more time talking about the things of God together and how they relate to our life as a couple and to each of us as individuals- we've found a perfect helper right here in Closer!

Though we have only been doing this for a month or so, we each look forward to our devotion; not only for the peace and quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of life, but to apply God's Word to our here and now, and look forward into our future together.

Closer would make a great gift for the new couple, the struggling couple, the busy couple or the Pastors in your life. Pick up a copy for you and one for a gift!
